Rummy Glossary
Ace
A deck of cards contains 4 aces. Each suit has 1 ace.
Buy-in
It is the amount you spend to purchase a ticket of a tournament that allows you to take a part in that particular tournament
Closed Deck
Also called draw pile. After distributing 13 cards to each player, the remaining cards are placed on the table upside down and that is called Closed Deck. Players can choose to pick cards from this deck on their turn.
Chip
A weak-passive player who calls a lot, but doesn't raise or fold much. This is the kind of player you like to have in your game.
Chip
The rules of rummy in rummybo accommodate the use of playing chips which are equated to real money on cash rummy games . When you play a real cash rummy game on rummybo, you can play with these chips.
Dealer
At the beginning of the game, one card is given to each player. The person sitting to the right of the player who gets the highest value card becomes the dealer.
Declare
When a player completes arranging their cards and want to finish the game, they declare by putting the 14th card facedown on the open deck (See open deck/Discard Pile)
Drop
Sometimes, players choose to leave the game after viewing their cards. This is known as Drop.
Face Cards
The cards which have a Face on it (King, Queen & Jack) are called Face Cards. They carry 10 points in 13 card rummy.
Impure Sequence
A sequence that includes a joker in it.
Instant Bonus
The bonus that you can use instantly to play more cash games.
Invalid Declaration
When a player declares a game with invalid set or sequence.
Locked Bonus
This is a type of non-withdrawable bonus which is released in chunks based on a player's cash gameplay.
Middle Drop
When a player drops after playing the first turn. Middle drops cost a player 30 points.
Open Deck
Also called Discard Pile, it is the pile formed by the players who discard one card in their turn. The next player can either choose to pick the top card from the discard pile or from the closed deck.
Points Rummy
It is another variant of 13 card rummy in which players play for points. The player who makes the required valid sets and sequences and declares the game first wins the game with zero points and gets all the cash based on the opponents total points.
Printed Joker
It is the card in the deck which has a picture of a joker printed on it. These cards act as a wild card and can be used to make impure sets and sequences.
Pool Rummy
It is another variant of 13 card rummy in which players pay an entry fee which makes the prize pool for the game. The player who reaches the point limit on the table eg. 101 or 201, gets eliminated and the other player wins the prize pool.
Pure Sequence
A sequence of 3 or more same suit cards. {2(hearts) 3(hearts) 4(hearts)}
Rebuy
The amount spent to rejoin a tournament that you got eliminated from.
Rake
It is platform fee deducted from the winnings amount and is already included in the wagered amount.
RP Tournament
Tournaments that can be joined by reward points.
Show
An integral part of the game happens when a player goes to show the combination of cards that he claims to have made.
Shuffle
Mixing of the cards.
Sequence
3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit. It can be either pure sequence or impure sequence(formed with the help of a joker).
Set
A Set is a group of three or a maximum of four cards (including the Joker cars) of the same value but arranged in different suits.
Wild Joker
A Wild Joker is that crucial card that is selected randomly from a closed deck available to all the players at all times.
